Frequently Asked Questions

Care should not wait to be asked for. It should already be there.

That's the whole idea behind Jourwell. Here are answers to the questions we hear most.

Getting to Know Us

What is Jourwell Homecare?

We bring good, proper medical care to you, in your home, where you're comfortable. Our doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and lab staff come to you, so you don't have to sit in traffic, wait in a crowded hospital, or leave a loved one behind just to get quality care.

Why "home care" instead of the hospital?

Because most people heal better, and feel better, in familiar surroundings — their own bed, their own kitchen, their family around them. We bring the hospital-level skill and equipment to you, so you don't have to trade comfort for good care.

Do you only work with elderly patients?

Not at all. We care for anyone who needs medical attention at home — recovering from surgery, managing a chronic illness like diabetes or hypertension, needing physiotherapy after an injury, or an elderly parent who'd simply rather be cared for at home. Whatever the case, care should not wait to be asked for — we try to spot what's needed before it becomes a crisis.

What We Do

What kind of care can you provide at home?
  • A nurse to check your vitals, manage medication, dress wounds, or draw blood
  • A doctor to examine you, diagnose what's wrong, and prescribe treatment
  • A physiotherapist to help you move better and recover strength after surgery, a stroke, or an injury
Can you take care of someone with a long-term illness?

Yes. A lot of the families we work with are managing something ongoing — diabetes, high blood pressure, mobility issues from age. Our team checks in regularly, keeps an eye on things, and steps in quickly if anything changes.

What if someone just came out of surgery or hospital?

That's exactly when home care makes the biggest difference. We help with wound care, medication, movement, and recovery — so the transition home doesn't feel like a step backward.

Can you draw blood and run tests without going to a lab?

Yes. Our lab technician comes to you, draws the sample properly and safely, and either runs a quick test on the spot (like blood sugar) or sends it off to a partner lab. Either way, your results get to your doctor without you lifting a finger.

Will you take over from my current doctor?

No — we work with your doctor, not around them. Think of us as an extra pair of hands close to home, keeping your doctor in the loop every step of the way.

How It Actually Works

How do I book a visit?

Just reach out through our app, by phone, or through a referral from your doctor or hospital. Tell us what's needed, and we'll take it from there.

How soon can someone come?

Depends on how urgent it is. If it's routine, we'll schedule around what works for you. If it's urgent, our team moves fast to get someone to you quickly.

Will I see the same nurse or doctor every time?

We try to, as much as we can — familiar faces make a real difference, especially for older patients or anyone managing a long-term condition. It's not always guaranteed, but continuity matters to us too.

How do I know what's happening with my care?

Everything — visit notes, vitals, test results — gets logged on the Jourwell app in real time. You, your family, and your doctor can all see it. No guessing, no waiting for someone to remember to update you.

What if things suddenly get worse?

Our team is trained to catch the warning signs early and act on them fast — including getting you to a hospital safely if that's what's needed. And if you or your family notice something isn't right, call us immediately using the number we give you when care begins.

Who's Actually Coming Into My Home

Are your staff properly qualified?

Yes, every one of them. Our nurses, doctors, physiotherapists and lab technicians are all licensed by their professional bodies in Nigeria, and we check their credentials before they ever visit a patient.

Have they been background-checked?

Yes. Since our team works alone in people's homes, we run background checks on everyone before they start — no exceptions.

Will I be alone with them?

Usually, yes — our clinicians are trained to work independently and follow strict rules of conduct at all times. That's part of the trust we're built on.

Keeping Your Information Safe

Is my medical information kept private?

Yes. We follow Nigeria's Data Protection Act, and your information is only ever used to manage your care. It doesn't get shared beyond your care team and your doctor.

Who can see my records?

Just your care team, your doctor, and family members you choose to give access to — nobody else.

What if I'm not happy with something?

Tell us. You can speak directly to our Clinical Manager, or raise it through our formal complaints process. We take it seriously, and we look into every concern properly.

Cost and Getting Started

How much does this cost?

It depends on what kind of care you need and how often. Reach out to our team and we'll walk you through it and give you a clear quote — no surprises.

Do you work with health insurance?

Some plans, yes — it depends on your provider. Contact us and we'll check what's covered for you.

How do I sign up?

Just get in touch — through the website, the app, or a phone call. We'll ask a few simple questions about what's going on, and take it from there.

Can a family member help manage things?

Of course. Many families use the Jourwell app to stay updated and involved, even if they're not the one physically there. We're happy to explain things to family caregivers too, so nobody feels left in the dark.

Reach out — we're here to help, because care should not wait to be asked for. It should already be there.
